WATCH: Third day into funeral industry’s strike
The funeral industry located in Cape Town is planning to shut down on Wednesday.
Memorandum of demands have been handed over to the Home Affairs offices in the CBD by some demonstrators.
The shutdown is included in the 3-day funeral parlour strike that began on Monday.
Their demand is they want an intervention from the government to help small black-owned undertakers receive operating certificates.
The undertaker’s shutdown protest began on Monday in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provinces .
The Cape Town shutdown could pose serious implications towards the Muslim community, due to their burial rites which is supposed to take place within 24 hours of death.
